Another attempt at resuscitating this again. Okay from now onwards, this is just going to be personal memo, like how it has been from the beginning.
Today i went down town to do a belated mini-birthday-celebration-and-dinner thing for an old secondary school friend, got her a cake and a present for it. You could say that she's amongst the few cynical people that i know (not that its a bad thing), and a pretty good realist to possibly keep me in check if i need to consult her on anything.
we had a little discussion when i brought up the whole pinder vision thing to her, and got a lot of rebuttals and all over it, and it made me think of some stuff about myself again (like i'm still pretty bad at articulating certain things). I'm an idealist, a dreamer and believer. I believe in ideals, i dream of a better world, a perfect world where people interact seamlessly and harmoniously. Cynicism and realism tells us that perfection is impossible; and that might be right i suppose.
But physics has taught me very differently; physicists look for universal laws, perfect and sometimes incredibly simple equations, rules and theories to solve every problem "universally". The grand unified field theory seeks to do just that; a simple, flawless equation to explain all the fundamental forces of the universe. I believe that there are fundamental flaws in society and we should seek to fix them. Eric and I believe that there is far more to just creating an "avenue for event listings online" when we are going to build this, and its true.
I know that there will always be exceptions, and it won't work, or work well for everyone; Positive exceptions, like how mathematical/structural fractals and anomalies appear in nature, and negative ones.
I know that if we pull this off successfully, we will generate a whole deal of happiness in society, and its slivers will leave traces, seeping into those exceptions.
I know this happiness and activities can change society and culture for the better.
I know my expectation of perfection; reaching out to as many people as possible and cracking open society is possible.
I know its going to be so hard to pull off perfectly.
Because thats how new ideas work, isn't it?
Cynicism and realism are important, especially for people like eric and i. All these ideas, crazy, mad or plain that we want to put into work in society. It helps to keep us in check, like on the ground and discover underlying issues. And the whole progressing society is the only thing that has ever kept us going. I think thats why he joined christianity; to help others. Everything else to us is pretty much a waste of time or/or unproductive.
I think I'm a little naive at times (think i've been told that way before once), and maybe i really need to be a little more cynical. Believing a little too much in perfect worlds and people. But I'll never, ever trade my imagination and madness for all of these realism and down-to-earthiness. And i'll never take textbook knowledge or textbook information people give me and apply it to the world around me; its just plain boring and silly.
The world is way too dynamic and deep to be codified in plain studied texts, so i'm sorry to reject you guys' ideas, thats how i roll.
I've been told by people i seem to be high on drugs all the time when they first met me (not like the camp-high, but more of the psycho kind). I think thats a bloody great compliment, and i'm damn well proud of it.
